Had some awesome driving with Nick of the Exocet and 415s30. Much fun was had. I pretty much drive the Sunchaser from 9 am to 7 pm and I am pooped.
I saw this Wesrfalia with Porsche wheels, and I thought they looked awful on it. So here is a sunset from my last night in Petaluma. Drive with Opponauts. It's fun. I like you folks.

That would be awesome. Ike tried to pull that off a few years ago in Chicago, but it ended up being regional like all the other meets. The only people who drove any significant distance were Ike, and Cl eetus and Reidus. It was a ton of fun though.
Perhaps I can take a stab at organizing something for next year?

they had huge-ass MAN trucks - and in case of trouble I am certain one of the 959s was always supposed to be a donor for the leading car. There was also a rather special Mercedes-Benz
Geländewagen
with a prototype 928 (32V?) engine which was used in the Pharaohs rally.
When Porsche still did their hot-weather testing in Algeria and places like that they used a chase van - a T2, if I remember correctly, but I may be wrong. A stock one. Now imagine t ry ing to keep the pace of a hard-charging SC or a 944 with a T2! I may be wrong, but I think the T2 also had to carry telemetry equipment, which made it heavier and even slower. So they fitted a big flat-six (2.7 or maybe 3.0) - problem solved.
Of course that van with the 911 mill became very popular among the Porsche top brass. They would borrow it on weekends even. And so the idea of the B32 was born.
I’ve always understood that a well-sorted VW van with a 911 engine has rather good road manners, but you can’t believe everything you see in print, obvs.
